Migrate Acrobat Classic 2020 users to Feature Restricted Licensing

Migrate users from Acrobat Classic 2020 (serial number) to Acrobat Classic Feature Restricted Licensing.

1. Deactivate the serial number on the machine

Note

Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition is a platform-specific executable file, adobe_prtk.exe in Windows or adobe_prtk in macOS.

Open an elevated prompt (run as administrator), using the DOS command shell in Windows or a Terminal in macOS.

Navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the executable.

Deserialize a package using the following command:

macOSadobe_prtk --tool=UnSerialize --leid=<LEID> [--deactivate] [--force]

Windowsadobe_prtk.exe --tool=UnSerialize --leid=<LEID> [--deactivate] [--force]

Supported arguments of the command:

--leid LEID

The product’s licensing identifier (see Product identification).

--locale locale

Optional; a locale code. For a list of the codes and the corresponding locales, see Locale Codes.

--deactivate

Optional; deactivates the corresponding license from the system

--removeSWTag

Removes the SWTag files.

SWTag refers to universal identification tag files for software application titles created as per ISO/IEC standards (ISO/IEC 19770-2). These files enable an accurate, consistent, and automated method for discovery and management of software assets.

--force

Forcefully deactivates the corresponding license from the machine

2. Validate registry setting

Windows

Go to the Windows registry editor.

Navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\2020\Activation

Ensure that following setting is either unavailable or set to 0

IsAMTEnforced"=dword:00000000

macos

From the Go menu navigate down to Go to Folder in Finder, or hit Command+Shift+G.

Navigate to the following location:

/Library/Preferences/

Open the following file:

com.adobe.acrobat.pro.2020.plist

Ensure that the following setting is either unavailable or set to NO:

IsAMTEnforced=Boolean:NO

3. Create feature restricted license-only package on the Admin Console

After completing the above procedures, each end-user machine has an unlicensed Acrobat version installed. To license this version, create and deploy a feature restricted license-only package to each machine. To do this, use the following procedures, based on the licensing activation method that your organization is using:
