The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), found on video cards and as part of display systems, is a specialized processor that can rapidly execute commands for manipulating and displaying images. GPU-accelerated computing offers faster performance across a broad range of design, animation, and video applications.
GPU Performance is a feature introduced in the 2014 release of Illustrator CC. The GPU Performance feature introduces a new preview mode - GPU Preview - which enables rendering of Illustrator artwork on the graphics processor.
This feature is available on Windows 7 or 8 computers that have an NVIDIA GPU installed (compatible GPUs listed below). This feature is turned on by default for RGB documents. This feature can also be turned on for CMYK documents from the Preferences panel (Ctrl + K > Experimental Feature tab).
