The Graphics Processing Unit (GPU), found on video cards and as part of display systems, is a specialized processor that can rapidly execute commands for manipulating and displaying images. GPU-accelerated computing offers faster performance across a broad range of design, animation, and video applications.
In Adobe Illustrator CC, GPU Performance features enable rendering of Illustrator artwork using the graphics processor.
This feature was introduced in the 2014 release of Illustrator CC, but only for Windows computers with select, compatible, NVIDIA graphics processors. In the June 2015 release of Illustrator CC, GPU Performance is available on Macs and Windows computers, and works with various GPUs.
