When you try to install Adobe CS5 updates downloaded from Adobe's website on Windows Vista without SP2 installed, the installation fails and returns an error. For example:
- "Error loading Updater workflow"
- "Some updates failed to install. The following updates were unable to install. If you wish to install these updates, please fix the problems below and retry: [name of product update]; Installation failed."
Launch any of your Adobe applications and choose Updates from the Help menu. Follow the instructions to install the update that failed, and any other updates you want to install.
Install the Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) update. For more information on installing Microsoft Windows Vista Service Packs, see Microsoft's support article, "How to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack."
Microsoft has included a fix in the released Service Pack 2 for Vista, which solves the root cause of this failure. See Microsoft's support article, "Error message when you extract items from a .zip file in Windows Vista or in Windows Server 2008: 'Error 0x800004005: Unspecified error'."
