Create custom attributes

Define exactly what you want Adobe Acrobat Analyzer to extract by creating your own custom attributes.

Create a custom attribute when you need Adobe Acrobat Analyzer to extract information that isn’t covered by the standard attributes. Custom attributes enable you to capture terms, values, or concepts that are specific to your documents and business processes.

Create a custom attribute

  1. Go to the Attributes tab.

  2. Select Create attribute.

  3. Fill in the attribute's details:

    • Attribute Name – How the attribute will appear throughout Acrobat Analyzer. Choose a clear, intuitive name.
    • Attribute Type – Text, Number, Date.
    • Attribute Group – The category where the attribute should live. Keeping related attributes together makes them easier to manage.
    • Attribute Description – Explain exactly what Acrobat Analyzer should extract. Minimum of 30 characters.
    • Positive examples (optional) – Examples of correct values to improve accuracy.
    • Negative examples (optional) – Examples of similar but incorrect values to reduce false matches.

    Tip

If you're not getting the results you are expecting, try adding 3-5 examples to refine the quality of your attribute.

  4. Select Evaluate attribute to test your attribute against up to 10 documents.

    • Include documents you know contain the information you’re trying to extract.
    • Review the results and refine your description or examples if the values are incorrect or missing.
  5. When the attribute performs as expected, select Save attribute to finalize it.

The new attribute is now available across Acrobat Analyzer and can be extracted from all of your documents. It also appears in filtering, search, export, and other analysis workflows.

Note

You are responsible for creating, testing, and validating custom attributes tailored to your specific documents and use cases. Acrobat Analyzer provides tools for evaluation and feedback, but accuracy depends on your input and refinement.
