Upload attribute definitions from a CSV file in Analyzer in Sign

Last updated on Aug 17, 2026

Upload attribute definitions from a CSV file to create new attributes, update existing definitions, or restore a saved configuration.

Uploading applies the attribute configuration contained in the CSV file to Analyzer. Use it when you need to move attribute definitions between environments, restore a previous configuration, standardize definitions across teams, or create multiple attributes at once.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • The CSV follows the format generated by Download attributes.
  • You review the file to confirm field names and values are correct.
  • You understand that uploading a matching attribute replaces its existing definition.

Upload attribute definitions

Open Attributes.

Select the ellipsis menu.

Select Upload attributes.

Attributes page with the ellipsis menu open and Upload attributes selected.
Attribute definitions are imported from the same Attributes page where existing definitions are managed.

Processing can create multiple attributes or replace existing definitions from a single CSV file.

After processing finishes, the imported attributes appear in the Attributes list.

What happens during upload

When you upload a CSV file:

  • Each row is processed as an attribute definition.
  • New attributes are created when they do not already exist.
  • If an uploaded attribute matches an existing attribute, the existing definition is replaced.
  • Invalid rows are skipped or flagged for correction.

Review the imported attributes before using them with documents to confirm that their configuration is correct.

When to upload attribute definitions

Upload attribute definitions when you need to:

  • Recreate attributes in another environment.
  • Restore attributes from a saved configuration.
  • Apply standardized attribute definitions across teams.
  • Create or update multiple attributes at once.
