Learn how to create or convert files to cloud documents.

Create a new cloud document

You can create new cloud documents in Adobe Fresco, Adobe Aero, Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.

Adobe XD | Adobe Fresco | Adobe Aero

Cloud documents are the native file format for Adobe XD, Adobe Fresco, and Adobe Aero—all files in these apps are saved as cloud documents.

Note:

In Adobe XD, documents can also be saved as local documents. (To save as a non-cloud document, select File > Save As Local Document.)

Photoshop | Illustrator | InDesign

Convert an existing file to a cloud document

You can easily save an existing Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, or Adobe Illustrator file as a cloud document from the respective Creative Cloud app. You can also convert single or multiple Photoshop, Illustrator, or XD files to cloud documents from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Convert Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or InDesign files to cloud documents

  1. Open the file in your Creative Cloud app.

  2. Select File > Save As.

  3. Save your document as a cloud document. The dialog box you see depends on your app and how you saved your previous document.

    Note:

In Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign if you selected Don't show again earlier, you see a different dialog box.

Your document doesn't overwrite the existing file. It is saved as a cloud document and gets a new extension.

Convert multiple files to cloud documents

You can convert multiple Photoshop, Illustrator, XD or InDesign files to cloud documents from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  1. Open the Creative Cloud desktop app. (Select the   icon in your Windows taskbar or the macOS menu bar.)

  2. In the Files tab, select Your files.

The Your files tab in Creative cloud app showing the files uploaded to Creative cloud.
You can see your uploaded files under Your files.

  3. Select the Create new icon , and then select Upload.

The expanded menu showing options to create a folder, upload a file, and launch one of your Creative cloud apps.
You can also create a new folder or launch one of the available Creative Cloud apps.

    Tip:

You can also drag and drop the files to convert them to cloud documents.

  4. Select the Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or InDesign files to be converted to cloud documents, and then select Open.

The window to select and upload a file from your device to your Creative cloud storage.
The file upload process starts successfully.

  5. Select Continue to convert the files into cloud documents.

The Convert file to cloud document window asking for confirmation to convert file and upload the file to Creative cloud.
You can also select Don't show this again to not get this prompt when you convert files to cloud documents again.

Note:

You can select the Cloud activity cloud_activity_icon.pngicon on the upper right to check the progress of conversion.

The Cloud activity menu showing your cloud storage, sync status of libraries, and the progress of file conversion and upload.
The file is converted and uploaded to Creative cloud successfully.

Once converted, you can view and edit the converted cloud documents from the Creative Cloud desktop app as well as in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, and Adobe InDesign.

The Your files tab in Creative cloud app showing the files uploaded to Creative cloud.
The file was successfully uploaded to Creative Cloud. You can now open and share your files with others.
