Resolved Issues

1556556 Recognition of blank space for accessibility: This resolved issue corrects the behavior of not audibly recognizing œspaces in forms with Adobes screen reader technology for accessibility.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.0 and 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1557564 Search functionality corrected for dynamic forms using direct rendering: A search flaw was discovered that would return an incorrect result in dynamic forms using direct rendering. For example, searching for the word œtest might return œForm from the œReset Form button. This issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1563874 Corrected behavior for protected expandable fields in dynamic forms: Even after setting an expandable form field to œprotected, it was still possible for an end-user to expand that field. This has been rectified and expandable fields that are set to œprotected are no longer expandable.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.0 and 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1570947 Corrected page flow when orientation changes (i.e. portrait to landscape): A repeatable sub-form can overflow into new pages in an overall form. It was possible that an overflow to a page with a different orientation, such as landscape, would display incorrectly. This behavior has been rectified.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1570960 Re-calculate event in XFA forms improvedc: In version 8, calling the function xfa.form.recalculate() would conclude with a message box confirming the action for the end-user. In 8.1, this final message box did not appear. This issue has been resolved and is now working as it did in version 8.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1572817 Improved color output when converting to PDF/X via œshort-cut button: When choosing œConvert to PDF/X from œAdvanced => Preflight screen, gray colors would not retain their original colors (transformation to CMYK occurred). This issue has been resolved and gray, remains gray.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1573793 Improved behavior of Reader enabled forms usage rights: In some situations, saving Reader enabled forms in Reader 8.1 would cause the usage rights to break, giving end-users the following message: "This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document." This issue has been resolved, and Reader-saved files retain their usage permissions.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1574838 Improved printing on HP-based printers: On the HP Color Laser Jet 4550, 4600, 4650 printers, when advanced printer options included œPS Options/Language set to Language Level 3, errors resulted in the print job. This issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.0 and 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1576437 Enhanced stability when opening dynamic forms: Due to newer code developed in 8.1 for the handling of dynamic forms under direct rendering, it was possible to get an exception that was not properly caught, causing 8.1 to crash. This could happen if scripting removed a node that direct rendering was expecting. The issue is now resolved and is handling exceptions appropriately.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1592861 Corrected behavior for œread only fields when using direct rendering: If a field was set to œRead Only at runtime via scripting, and an end-user was to input double-byte characters into that field with the Windows input method activated (checking for valid character sets on the given machine), clicking œenter would commit the characters. This issue has been resolved and the œRead Only declaration is now being enforced.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1605375 Improved behavior when adding sub-forms: Adding an instance of a œsub-form would add the page in landscape view. Similar to 1570947, this has been rectified.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1607532 Added PCL print improvements: Certain double-byte character fonts caused Acrobat and Reader to terminate abnormally when printing with the PCL driver. This issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.0 and 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1611771 Improved temp file clean-up after printing: When running in a Windows Terminal Server environment with HP PCL printers, Reader 7 and 8 for Windows would leave several temp files behind, even after re-boot. The issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in Reader versions 7 and 8.

1618289 Support for new Adobe Extensions per ISO 32000: With the formal approval of ISO 32000, versions 8.1.2 will officially adopt the proper œextensions to the PDF file format.

Root: new terminology fixes issue in all previous versions of Reader and Acrobat.

1619714 Improved behavior of Reader enabled rights within LiveCycle Workspace: Certain XFA-based forms that were Reader enabled, would not behave properly under LiveCycle Workspace. For instance, the enable œsave right would show up as disabled. This issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1623197 Improved behavior when posting data with Safari on the Macintosh and Firefox on Windows: When a PDF was loaded into the browser using œHostContainer, posts from those fields would sometimes fail. This has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1623539 Corrected screen reader behavior for converted German tags: When certain German Word documents were converted to PDF, the issue with the Adobe screen reader technology for accessibility not recognizing headers has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.0 and 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1623797 Improved decimal field behavior for dynamic XFA using direct rendering: For dynamic XFA forms utilizing direct rendering, decimal fields were being truncated to two decimals. This has been rectified.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1624413 Improved stability on dynamic forms: Calling the script œrelayout on the œlayout:ready event in direct rendering mode could cause a form to hang due to an infinite loop. This is now being detected and no longer an issue.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1635763 Improved stability on certified dynamic forms: A customer form was discovered that contained a certain set of fonts that when certified could crash on subsequent signatures. This problem has been corrected.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1639564 Corrected truncation error on metadata: 3D models in PDF can assign meta-data to each part within the 3D assembly. Meta-data were being truncated at 175 characters. That limitation has been removed and made infinitely expandable.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1645404 Improved behavior of 3D annotations: Certain 3D PDFs would crash Acrobat and Reader when annotations were enabled. This issue has been fixed.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1648534 Improved behavior of meshes in 3D: Meshes now act as PMI, which greatly enhances rendering to the end-user.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1650281 Improved behavior of name spaces in metadata: A model that contained different name spaces for its meta-data would display incorrectly in 3D. This issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.

1624848 Enhanced capability to handle multiple browser windows with similar javascript calls: It was possible to crash Acrobat and Reader if the end-user were to open multiple PDFs in separate browser windows that all contained the same Document Level JavaScript. This issue has been resolved.

Root: fixes an issue in versions 8.1, not present in earlier versions.
