The New project button is available in the Left bar.

When you create a new project, Sunrise will guide you through the following steps:
- Select your assets.
- Choose a template.
- Select your shots.
Select your assets
The first step of creating a project is selecting assets.
Only approved assets can be included in a project. This ensures that only assets that have been through the review process can be used to generate content.
You can add assets once the project has been created, so don’t worry if some assets still need approval. You can create the project with a single asset, and add the additional assets later.
Once you’ve selected the assets you’d like to start with, click Next to move to the next step.
Choose a template
When you start a new project, the project template selector appears. From here you can choose a template that best suits the assets you’ll be adding to the project.
Templates change a few aspects of the project:
- The aspect ratio of the generated renders.
- The number of renders per asset.
- You can turn off some renders after you've chosen a template, but the template determines the maximum number of renders possible.
- The lighting setup (IBL) used in renders and the web viewer.
- The default camera angles used for renders.
- You can modify camera angles for individual renders once the project has been created, but it’s a good idea to use a template that provides generally acceptable angles.

Templates are created by highly experienced product photographers and 3D rendering specialists to reproduce the most popular lighting and photography setups used in each industry. The lighting setup in each template have been captured in a photography studio to ensure the renders are as close as possible to images produced in physical photoshoots.
While individual templates are named after the industry that inspired them, each template category has multiple options that could work well for products in a given industry.
The template thumbnails show how lighting will affect two reference objects. In each template thumbnail, the left object is a highly reflective metallic surface, while the right object is non-metallic with a higher roughness value. The reference objects are the same in every thumbnail, so it’s only the template’s IBL and lighting setup that affects their appearance.
Once you find a template that looks like it will work for your assets, select it and click Next.
Select your shots
Each template has a series of shots that you can select from. The shots you select will be generated for every asset in your project. Make sure to select all the shots you’ll need, as it currently isn’t possible to add more shots to your project once it has been created.
Each shot present in a template corresponds with a shot often present in product photography for the target industry, but the camera angles may not work perfectly depending on the asset's shape and size. It is possible to adjust the camera angle for each individual image later so you can line up the perfect shot.
Every asset will automatically have AR and 3D media generated. You don't need to specify this during the project creation process.
Once you’re happy with your shots, click Done to create the project. Sunrise will automatically open the Project viewer to see your new project. Sunrise will start generating lower resolution preview media so you can quickly get an idea of the results.
Rename the project
Currently, Sunrise automatically names your project. You can see the name of your project at the top of the Project viewer once the project has been created. Often it’s useful to have a more descriptive name for projects based on what the project is being used for.
To rename a project:
- In the Project library, hover over the project you wish to rename.
- Click the “...” that appears.
- Select Rename
- Enter the new project name.
