Projects use Templates to define the environment in which your products will appear in 2D renders and the 3D viewer. Templates control lighting, the backdrop of the scene, and which shots are available based on the industry the Template was inspired by.

Templates are created by professional photographers and lighting artists with extensive experience photographing products in the listed industries.
Each template replicates lighting setups and camera angles from the industry for which the template is named. For example, the Cosmetics template uses a 1:1 aspect ratio with brighter, neutral warmth lights that can highlight reflections and create slightly softened shadows. This is a common lighting setup in the cosmetics industry, and Sunrise makes it quick and easy to replicate.
Comparing templates
The Template thumbnails give a general idea of the lighting setup for each template. Each thumbnail shows the same asset in the same environment, two material spheres with a white backdrop. The left sphere has a highly reflective metallic material, while the right sphere is a diffuse material, similar to a matte plastic.
By viewing the differences in these thumbnails it's possible to see how templates differ across a few parameters including:
- Lighting temperature
- Exposure
- Shadows
- Camera angle
Exploring templates
While templates are created based on specific industries, we recommend trying different templates that might not nominally match your product. You might find unique combinations that work well for some products. The Sunrise team is committed to adding more templates as time goes on.
