Access your generation history in other Adobe apps

Learn how to use your Firefly generations across other Adobe products like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Your Firefly generation history integrates with other Adobe apps, allowing you to reuse generative content across Adobe products without breaking the creative workflow. Made available through Adobe cloud storage, you can find app-compatible generations in Adobe Photoshop (web and desktop), Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.

You must have an active Creative Cloud subscription with access to both Firefly and the destination apps or web apps. You can access your Firefly generations in two different ways, depending on your workflow needs and the app you're using.

Place generations using the file picker

In your Adobe app, use the following options depending on your app:

  • Photoshop desktop: FilePlace Embedded > Open cloud documents
  • Illustrator: FilePlace > Open cloud documents
  • InDesign: File > PlaceOpen Cloud Document
  • Photoshop web: Hamburger menu   > Import
Tip

You can also go to the toolbar, select Add image > Upload an image > Generation history to access your Firefly generation history in Photoshop web.

Browse the following folders to locate your Firefly generation.

Note

The Generation history tab filters to show only generations compatible with your current app, saving you time when browsing for usable assets.

Select the generation you want to use and confirm your selection to add it to your document.

Create documents from Generation history

In Photoshop (desktop or web) or Illustrator, locate and select the Generation history tab.

Photoshop web screen displays the Generation history tab populated with compatible Fierefly generations.
The Generation history or Firefly history tab is already populated with all compatible generations.

Browse and select from the compatible generations displayed in the tab.

This will automatically createsa new document with your selected generation as the primary content.
