Discover the new generation and editing experience in Adobe Firefly to connect image and video generation, editing, and organization in a single creative environment.
The new generation and editing experience in Adobe Firefly provides a single workspace for generating and editing content, managing projects and assets, and working with video timelines.
Use text prompts and reference images to generate images and videos, choose from available AI models, adjust generation settings, and continue working with previously generated results. The new experience also allows you to access Projects, Files, and Generation history throughout as you move between generation and editing tasks.
Explore the workspace
You can access the new experience by selecting the Generations tab from the left navigation bar. The new workspace opens with the last project you were working on and has these main areas:
- Project: Organize related creative work and select projects from the drop-down menu at all times.
- Files: Access and manage creative assets and reusable Elements in a collapsible panel on the left side.
- Generation area: View generated images and videos, access generation details, and continue editing or generating content. You can switch to a grid or list view depending on your preference.
- Generation history strip: Browse previously generated content using the thumbnail strip on the right side of the workspace. Access filtering options to narrow the generations displayed. Control the visibility of the generation history strip to manage the available workspace area.
- Generation bar: Enter prompts, switch between Image and Video modes, add references, select models, and configure generation settings.

Benefits of the new generation and editing workspace
Firefly's unified workspace combines several capabilities that allow you to create and carry an idea from initial exploration through final production:
- Easy to switch between List and Grid views: Use the view control in the upper-right corner of the workspace to switch between the available layouts.
- List view: Displays generated content in a vertically scrollable feed, with large previews and generation details. Use this view to review prompts, reference images, model information, and available actions for individual generations.
- Grid view: Displays generated images and videos as thumbnails in a gallery. Use this view to browse multiple generations at once and quickly locate content.
- Connected generation and editing: Create images and videos using AI-powered generation, then refine them with editing tools without leaving your workspace or losing your work-in-progress. This integrated approach means you can experiment freely during generation and refine details afterward.
- Project-based organization: Keep related generations, media, timelines, and other creative assets together in a project. Use the Project and Files panel to access media associated with the current project as you generate, edit, and assemble content.
- Reusable creative elements: Build a library of Elements, reusable creative assets that represent specific visual concepts—a character design, a product you're featuring, or a location. Rather than describing the same character in every prompt, create an Element once and apply it to new generations, ensuring that visual identity remains consistent even as you explore different scenes or compositions.
- Persistent creative context: Return to your previous work without losing the creative context. Use the Generation history filter to view generations from the current project or browse all available generations, and continue working with previous results.
