View and edit clip properties

Edit properties of video clips added to the timeline in a few simple steps.

While editing video in Firefly video editor, selecting a clip on the timeline allows you to view and edit its properties, such as size, position, speed, opacity, and orientation. These settings control how the clip looks and behaves in your project. You can easily access and adjust them using the Properties panel, which updates automatically based on the selected clip type, making it easy to fine-tune videos to match your creative intent.

On the video editor page, select the video clip in the timeline that you want to adjust the properties for.

The Properties panel is enabled and displays the video’s duration along with the following adjustable properties:

  • Flip horizontal: Flip the clip left to right, like a mirror image.
  • Flip vertical: Flip the clip upside down, top to bottom.
  • Rotate clockwise: Rotate the clip 90° clockwise with each click.
  • Align: Snap the clip to the center or edges of the frame for precise placement.
  • Position: Move the clip around the frame horizontally or vertically.
  • Scale: Resize the clip, making it larger or smaller.
  • Rotate: Rotate the clip at any angle.
  • Opacity: Adjust how transparent or solid the clip appears.
  • Speed: Change how fast or slow the clip plays back.
  • Volume: If your uploaded clip includes audio, you can easily adjust its volume using the slider control.
The video is selected in the timeline and there are clip properties that you can edit. These properties inlcude Position, Scale, Rotate, and more.
Use the Properties panel to adjust clip properties such as its position, size, opacity, speed, and more.

As you adjust the properties, you can see the changes reflected in the preview.

Note
  • You can select a clip in the timeline and select the Properties   icon to view its details at any time.
  • For audio clips, the Properties panel provides a volume adjustment slider as the available setting.
