Use the video transcript to edit videos in a few simple steps.
The Text-based editing feature in Firefly video editor makes it easier to handle videos with a lot of speech, such as interviews, documentaries, or podcasts. Instead of searching through timelines or audio tracks for edits, you can edit the video by working directly with the transcript.
Select the Text-based editing icon in the right panel.
The Text-based editing panel displays the automatically generated transcript of the video.
Speaker labels will be assigned in the transcript depending on how many individuals are speaking.
Use the icon to enable the following functions:
When you hover your cursor over the generated transcript, you get the following options:
- Correct transcript: If the generated transcript doesn't match the dialogue, you can manually correct it.
- Add text to timeline: Add the highlighted text as a new text layer in the timeline.
- Assign speaker: Assign a speaker to the selected text, or add a new speaker if needed.
- Delete: Delete the selected text. This will also remove the corresponding video frames from the timeline and create a split.
You can also use the search option in the Text-based editing panel to find specific frames that contain a particular word from the dialogue.
Once you've finished editing using the generated text, download the final video.
