Learn how to use text prompts and style references to generate images directly within your Figma workspace.

You can generate images for your design templates using the Adobe GenStudio plugin in Figma. Use this feature to generate images from text descriptions, adjust settings like aspect ratio and style, and add them directly to your canvas.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Figma desktop app or Figma in the browser
  • Adobe GenStudio plugin installed in Figma
  • Active Adobe account with Firefly access

Generate and configure your image

Select Generate Image option in the plugin panel.

Enter a text prompt describing the image you want to generate.

Select a model from the Model dropdown menu or choose a custom model you've created.

Enter a text description to activate the generate button.

Select the settings icon to open the General settings panel and adjust generation options:

  • Aspect ratio: select an aspect ratio that matches your design needs.
  • Style: Select Upload image to use a reference from your device or AEM, select Browse Gallery to choose from Adobe Stock images. Then use the Strength slider to control how closely Firefly follows your style reference.

The Strength slider will appear only after a reference image is added.

Select the back button to return to the main generation screen.

Select the generate icon to generate your images.

The generated images will appear in the plugin panel. You can add them to your canvas using any of these methods:

  • Drag and drop an image directly onto the canvas
  • Select a frame on the canvas, then select an image in the plugin window to insert it
  • Select the upload icon to place an image on the canvas
  • Select the three dots icon and then select Download all to Figma.

After generating images, you can take additional actions by selecting the three dots icon to access these options:

  • Select Generate more to create additional variations using the same prompt
  • Select Copy prompt to reuse your text description
