Learn to use Google's Veo models to generate videos directly in the Firefly video editor.

Firefly video editor offers various Google Veo model options such as Veo 2, Veo 3.1, and Veo 3.1 Fast. Each is designed to deliver high-quality results, enhanced visual fidelity, and rapid iterations.

On the Firefly homepage, select Create from the left panel and then Edit video (beta).

Open a project or create a new one to access a timeline.

Select the Generation settings   icon from the right panel next to the video preview.

Select the Generate icon to open the Generation settings panel.

Enter a detailed text description for video generation in the prompt box.

Open the Model dropdown menu under General settings and select Veo 2, Veo 3.1, or Veo 3.1 Fast.

Select the Resolution dropdown menu to select a resolution option from 1080p or 720p.

Select a preferred resolution for the video you want to generate.

Select your preferred Aspect ratio as either Vertical (9:16) or Widescreen (16:9).

Select the desired Duration for the generated video from 4 seconds, 6 seconds, and 8 seconds.

With Veo 3.1 and Veo 3.1 Fast you can enable the Audio toggle to generate synchronized sounds or music for your video.

With Veo 2, you can use an image as the starting frame, select First under the Frames section, and choose your file.

Tip

After selecting First, use the Current frame option to use the frame where the playhead is positioned as the start frame of the generated video. For best results, ensure your first frame images are visually compatible with the action you describe in your text prompt.

Select Generate to generate your video.

Drag the generated video from the Generation history panel and drop it onto your timeline.

Your generated video is now part of your project and can be edited, trimmed, or combined with other media clips in the timeline.
