Learn how to use the GenStudio plugin to resize images and fill new spaces with generated content.

Use Generative Expand to transform an existing image into a specific template size. This feature adds AI-generated content around your original image, maintaining visual consistency while expanding it to your target dimensions.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Figma desktop app or Figma in the browser
  • Adobe GenStudio plugin installed in Figma
  • Active Adobe account with Firefly access

Select the Generative Expand option in the Firefly plugin panel.

Select an image on your Figma canvas.

Resize the generative expand temporary frame to your desired new dimensions or move the image anywhere inside the frame to position it.

Firefly panel in Figma displays a temporary frame over a selected image and the Generative Expand window.
The Generative Expand temporary frame will appear around the selected image on your workspace.

Enter a text prompt describing what you want the generated areas to contain, then select Generate.

Tip

Write a prompt that describes the environment, colors, or elements you want in the expanded areas for more accurate results.

Select any one of the expanded images to replace the original image on the canvas.
