Copy, edit, or delete security policies

Learn how to copy, edit, delete, or mark a security policy as a favorite in Adobe Acrobat.

Use security policy actions to keep protection settings up to date and easy to reuse. You can copy policies, update their settings, remove unused policies, or mark frequently used policies as favorites.

Before you begin

Ensure you have permission to manage security policies in Acrobat. Policies managed by an organization may have limited actions available.

Manage security policies

Go to All tools > Protect a PDF > Manage security policies. The Security Policies dialog box opens.

Select a policy to view its details and available management options.

Select Copy to create a duplicate policy, enter a new name, then select OK.

Select Edit to update the policy, make the required changes, then select OK.

Select Delete to remove a policy, then confirm the deletion.

Select Favorite to mark a policy. A star appears next to the policy, making it easier to find.

Select Favorite again to remove the policy from favorites. You can mark multiple policies as favorites.

Use the Show menu to filter all policies, user policies, or organizational policies.

• For user policies on a local computer, changes apply only to documents protected after editing.

• For user policies on a server, you can edit permission settings and other options

Favorite

Marks the policy with a star for easier retrieval. Select Favorite again to remove it. Can be applied to multiple policies

Note

You need administrator access to Adobe Experience Manager – Forms Server (Document Security) to change organizational policies on the server.
