When working with AI Assistant or a Generative summary in Acrobat, you may occasionally encounter errors that prevent these features from functioning as expected. If you experience errors, incomplete responses, or restricted access, consider the following causes and solutions to resolve the issues.

PDF doesn’t meet the requirements

The file does not meet the requirements for generative AI features.

Make sure the PDF isn't corrupted, damaged, or restricted.

Open a different PDF that meets the requirements.

Temporary processing delays

Acrobat may temporarily be unable to process requests if generative AI features are used frequently or if usage is high at the time.

Wait a few minutes.

Try using the generative AI features again after some time.

Incorrect or low-quality answers

Generated answers can sometimes be misleading or incomplete. Responses generated outside the supported languages are unintentional and not the intended purpose of AI Assistant.

Rephrase the question using simple, clear language and add more context if needed.

Review results before using them in your document.

Session not valid

Your session has expired.

Refresh the page.

Sign out of Acrobat and sign back in to restore access.

Older app versions

Outdated versions of Acrobat apps don't support generative AI features. Update to the latest version:

  • On Windows, select Menu Help > Check for updates.
  • On macOS, select Help > Check for updates.
