Add actions to page thumbnails

Last updated on Jun 7, 2026

Learn how to add open or close actions to a page in Adobe Acrobat.

Add actions at the page level to control what happens when a page becomes visible or when users navigate away from it. These automated actions can adjust the page view, play media, or change the visibility of content.

Configure page-level actions

Select Page thumbnails from the right panel.

Select the page thumbnail, then select Page properties from the Options menu.

Select the Actions tab in the Page Properties dialog box.

Choose a trigger from the Select Trigger dropdown menu.

Dialog box showing the Bookmark Properties window with the Actions tab open.
Choose Page Open for actions when the page is visible, or Page Close for actions when users leave the page.

Choose the action type you want to apply from the Select Action menu, then select Add.

Configure the action-specific settings in the dialog box that appears, then select OK.

Repeat the previous two steps to add additional actions and use the Up and Down buttons to adjust the order.

Select OK to close the Page Properties dialog box and apply your actions.

Note

If you set a page to open or close in full-screen mode, it remains in full-screen view until you change the setting.
