Acrobat compatibility warning on macOS

Last updated on Apr 16, 2026

Learn why macOS displays a warning about Acrobat compatibility and how to fix it.

You may get the following system-generated warning when opening Adobe Acrobat on macOS 26.4 or later:

This warning is about a future change and does not affect your current Acrobat experience. Acrobat continues to work normally on your Mac.

Applies to

Acrobat DC and Acrobat Classic 2024 versions.

About Apple's Rosetta announcement

Apple has confirmed that Rosetta will remain available up to macOS 27. Any changes to Acrobat compatibility, if needed, are expected only in a future macOS release beyond this timeframe. For more details, refer to Apple's official documentation: Using Intel-based apps on a Mac with Apple silicon.

Acrobat may use Intel-based components

The warning may appear because some Acrobat features still use Intel-based components, which run under Rosetta. Acrobat continues to function normally, and no action is required.

Adobe is actively working to upgrade the components that still rely on Rosetta to ensure full native Apple Silicon compatibility in a future release.

Acrobat is configured to run in Rosetta mode

Acrobat may be configured to run using Rosetta (Intel emulation), which may trigger this warning. Follow the steps below to turn off the option.

Open Finder and select Applications from the left panel.

Navigate to the Adobe Acrobat DC folder and open it.

Right-click Adobe Acrobat and select Get info

Deselect the Open in Rosetta checkbox.

Note

Acrobat installations using a serial number for licensing require Acrobat to run in Rosetta mode.

Close and relaunch Acrobat
