Make PDFs print-ready with Acrobat Pro

Last updated on Jun 7, 2026

Learn how to create high-quality PDFs that meet professional printing requirements in Acrobat Pro.

Standard PDFs often contain low-resolution images or incorrect color settings, resulting in poor print quality. Acrobat can convert these PDFs into high-resolution, print-ready files that meet professional printing standards, ensuring proper resolution, color handling, and embedded fonts.

Convert an existing PDF to a print‑ready format

Open a PDF.

Select Menu (Windows) or File menu (macOS).

Select Save as other > Press-ready PDF (PDF/X) > Settings.

Save As dialog box in Acrobat Pro with PDF/X selected and a Settings button for conversion options.
Configure PDF/X conversion options in the Settings dialog box.

Select OK to apply the settings, then choose a location and filename for your PDF.

Tip

Use a PDF/X‑4 conversion profile and apply corrections as needed to meet print‑ready requirements.

Select Save to create the new PDF/X-4 file. The file is now optimized and ready for professional printing.
