Enable chatbots for your organization

Messaging bot integration settings control which collaboration platforms users can connect to collections. You can enable Slack, Microsoft Teams, or both for your organization.

Enable or disable messaging bots

You must be an administrator to change messaging bot integration settings.

Messaging bot settings

Slack Bot

Enable this setting to allow users to configure the Knowledge Base Slack bot to interact with collections.

Disable the setting to prevent users from configuring new Slack bot connections.

Microsoft Teams Bot

Enable this setting to allow users to configure the Knowledge Base Microsoft Teams bot to interact with collections.

Disable the setting to prevent users from configuring new Microsoft Teams bot connections.

How it works

Enabling a bot integration makes that platform available when users select Manage chatbots for a collection.

Users can then assign one or more Slack or Microsoft Teams channels to the collection and configure how channel members access it.

Enabling a bot does not automatically share collections or grant users access. Collection owners must still configure the chatbot and assign the appropriate channels.

Best practices

Enable only the messaging platforms approved for use by your organization.

Before enabling channel-based access, confirm that collection content is appropriate for the members of the assigned Slack or Microsoft Teams channels.

• Users configure messaging bots from the Collections page.
• Both platforms can be configured for the same collection.
• Disabling a bot setting prevents users from configuring that integration.
