Protect a collection from accidental deletion or document removal.
Locking a collection enables protection mode. While the collection is protected, users cannot delete the collection or remove documents from it. Only the collection creator can enable or disable protection.
Lock a collection
Find the collection you want to protect.
Select the ellipsis next to the collection name.
Select Lock.
A lock icon appears next to the collection name to show that protection is enabled.
Unlock a collection
You must remove protection before you can delete the collection or remove its documents.
From the Collections page, find the protected collection.
Select the ellipsis next to the collection name.
Select Unlock.
The lock icon is removed, and users with the required permissions can delete the collection or remove documents.
Things to know
- Only the collection creator can protect or unprotect a collection.
- Protecting a collection prevents the collection from being deleted.
- Documents cannot be removed while the collection is protected.
- Protection does not prevent users with edit access from adding documents.
- Unlocking a collection does not delete the collection or its documents.
