From the Knowledge Base home page, select the Collections filter.
Configure Slack and Microsoft Teams channels to access a collection through a chatbot.
You manage chatbots from the Collections page. Each chatbot configuration associates a collection alias with one or more Slack or Teams channels. You can configure both platforms in the same setup.
Channel members can then ask questions about the collection from their assigned collaboration channels.
Configure a chatbot
Find the collection you want to make available through a chatbot.
Select the ellipsis next to the collection name.
Select Manage chatbots.
The chatbot configuration pane opens.
In Collection alias, enter a short nickname for the collection.
Users include the alias when addressing the bot unless the collection is configured as the default for the channel.
Enter the channel ID numbers for each Slack and/or Teams channel you want to connect to.
If you are configuring more than one of either type, tab out of the field after entering it and the ID will be saved under the filed, allowing you to enter a new ID.
Configure the optional access settings:
- Set as default in these channels
- Allow channel members to read this collection
Save the configuration.
Find a Slack channel ID
Enter the alphanumeric Slack channel ID, not the channel’s display name.
Open the channel you need the identifier for
Select the channel name located in the top header.
Scroll to the bottom of the About tab in the pop-up window.
Copy the ID: You will see a string of letters and numbers labeled Channel ID (e.g., C0123456789).
Select the copy icon right next to it
Find a Teams channel ID
Open Teams and locate your specific channel.
Select the three dots (...) next to the channel name
Select Copy link.
The link should be automatically copied to your clipboard
Paste the link into a text editor.
The channel ID is the long string of alphanumeric characters directly following channel/ and ending before the next slash
Set the collection as the channel default
Enable Set as default in these channels to make the collection the default source for the assigned chatbot channels.
When a collection is the default, users can ask questions without including the collection alias.
Allow channel members to read the collection
Enable Allow channel members to read this collection to grant collection access based on channel membership.
Members of the assigned Slack or Teams channels can then use chatbot to read information from the collection.
