Knowledge Base limits and supported content

Last updated on Aug 20, 2026

Review the supported formats, capacity limits, and operational boundaries for Knowledge Base in Acrobat.

Knowledge Base in Acrobat applies limits to collections, source files, chats, connectors, website indexing, and other features. Use this page to understand the supported content types and maximum values before you build collections, configure integrations, or start AI Assistant workflows. Limits can vary by feature or deployment, so review the applicable section when planning large or complex use cases

Document ingestion limits

The following limits apply when adding documents to Knowledge Base.

Content type Limit
PDF Up to 1,500 pages and 500 MB per file

When attaching content directly to an AI Assistant conversation, the following limits apply:

Attachment Limit

Combined images Less than 25 MB
Combined files Less than 16 MB

Files and images attached to a conversation are added to the collection and can be queried using Direct Mode or Collection Mode.

Connector synchronization

SharePoint and Google Drive connectors synchronize modifications and deletions made in the connected source.

Changes do not synchronize in both directions. Deleting content from a Knowledge Base collection does not delete the corresponding content from SharePoint or Google Drive.

Metadata tag availability

Metadata tags used to classify and filter documents are available only through the Knowledge Base APIs. They are not available through the standard Knowledge Base user interface.
