Welcome to Knowledge Base in Acrobat

Last updated on Aug 20, 2026

Knowledge Base is an enterprise-grade generative AI platform that transforms how organizations work with document-based knowledge.

Instead of searching, skimming, and manually stitching information together, teams can use Knowledge Base to build curated collections of documents and web content and turn them into a trusted, searchable resource. Unlike traditional enterprise search software, which helps users find files, Knowledge Base in Acrobat Studio helps users find answers using natural language prompts.

Grounded responses with citations to the exact source let users uncover actionable intelligence from their business documents and verify answers in context, instead of searching across disconnected repositories, chats, and file systems.

This page introduces the Knowledge Base core capabilities and helps you find the right place to start.

What you can do with Knowledge Base

Organize knowledge with collections

A collection is a curated set of your organization's existing documents and web content, grouped together to define a focused knowledge domain — such as a department, project, or topic area. Connect a collection to the repositories where your content already lives, like SharePoint, Google Drive, or Dropbox, with no need to migrate or reorganize anything first.

Once created, a collection sets the scope for search, questions, and summaries, so answers are grounded only in the documents that are actually relevant — not pulled from your entire content library. This keeps information relevant, reduces noise, and ensures insights stay accurate as your content grows.

Ask questions and get answers from your documents

Go beyond traditional search by using the AI Assistant to ask natural language questions across one or more documents or collections. Instead of reading through files manually, you can explore ideas, clarify details, and surface answers directly from the content.

Responses include clear source attributions, helping you understand where information comes from and giving you confidence in how results were derived—especially when working with complex or unfamiliar documents.

Work across systems and channels

Access Knowledge Base wherever your team already works. Ask questions and get cited answers through the web app, or directly inside Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Acrobat PDF Spaces — no need to switch tools or leave your existing workflow.

For deeper integration, extend Knowledge Base through the REST API or MCP to connect it to your own applications and automate custom workflows. Collections stay in sync with the repositories you already use, like SharePoint and Google Drive, so knowledge stays current without manual upkeep.

Data, privacy, and limits

Knowledge Base analyzes your organization's documents to generate answers, summaries, and insights — but your content is never used to train Adobe's or any third-party AI models. Data ingestion respects your existing security permissions and governance policies, so a collection only surfaces what a given user is already authorized to see.

Knowledge Base is built on enterprise-grade security standards, including SOC 2 and ISO compliance, with encryption in transit and at rest. Document and collection size limits may apply depending on your plan — see system limits for details.
