Install the Knowledge Base chatbot for Microsoft Teams

Last updated on Aug 20, 2026

Install the chatbot in Microsoft Teams and connect the tenant to your organization.

A Microsoft Teams administrator must download, upload, and approve the Knowledge Base chatbot for the organization. After installation, a Knowledge Base in Acrobat administrator connects the Teams tenant to the organization. Collection owners can then connect individual collections to supported Teams channels.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • A Microsoft Teams administrator is available to upload and approve the app.
  • A Knowledge Base administrator is available to configure the organization integration.
  • Custom app uploads are allowed for your Microsoft Teams organization.
  • You have the Microsoft Teams tenant ID.

Install the chatbot in Microsoft Teams

A Microsoft Teams administrator must complete this procedure.

Download the Teams app package.

The app package downloads as a ZIP file. Do not extract the file before uploading it to Microsoft Teams.

Open the Microsoft Teams desktop app.

Open Apps.

Select Manage your apps.

Select Upload an app.

Select Upload a custom app.

Select the downloaded ZIP file.

Select Add.

Review the installation information, and then select Add again.

Microsoft Teams displays a confirmation when the app is ready.

Installation and approval options can vary according to your organization’s Microsoft Teams app-management policies.

Verify the installation

Confirm that:

  • The Knowledge Base chatbot appears under the apps built for your organization in Microsoft Teams.
  • The Microsoft Teams tenant appears in Chatbot App Integrations in Knowledge Base.

Installing the chatbot and connecting the tenant do not automatically make collections available in Microsoft Teams. Each collection must be connected to a supported Teams channel separately.

How the setup works

The Microsoft Teams chatbot setup has three stages:

  1. A Microsoft Teams administrator downloads, uploads, and approves the app package.
  2. A Knowledge Base administrator connects the Microsoft Teams tenant to the organization.
  3. A collection owner or authorized user connects a collection to a Teams channel.

After a collection is connected, channel members can invoke the chatbot and authenticate when required. Access to collection content remains subject to the collection and Teams channel permissions.

Best practices

  • Download the current app package directly from Knowledge Base.
  • Upload the ZIP file without extracting its contents.
  • Confirm that you are connecting the intended Microsoft Teams tenant.
  • Verify the tenant ID before creating the integration.
  • Test the integration with one collection and channel before expanding access.
  • Confirm that channel members have permission to access the connected collection.

Next steps

After connecting the tenant, connect a collection to your Teams channel.

Things to know

  • Installing the chatbot and connecting the tenant are separate administrator tasks.
  • Connecting a tenant does not automatically make every collection available in Microsoft Teams.
  • Collections are connected to Teams channels individually.
  • Users may be prompted to sign in when they first invoke the chatbot.
  • Microsoft Teams installation and approval options can vary according to organization policies.
  • If the chatbot does not appear under the apps built for your organization, confirm that the ZIP package was uploaded and approved by a Microsoft Teams administrator.
