For any sequence, the output color space defines the color space you want to monitor (either through the Program Monitor and internal video scopes or Transmit) and render to. Every program has specific requirements for which format it needs to be output to, either imposed by the client, by the streaming service you’re uploading to, by a distribution company, or by a broadcast organization. Color Management helps you to meet the requirement, where HDR and SDR deliverables are regularly required.

If you use an external display connected to a transmit-compatible video output interface, the best practice is for your external display to be set to match your sequence’s output color space.

Unlike the working color space, which should never be changed once you’ve started adding visual effects and color adjustments to the sequence, you can change the output color space any time you want.

Customize output color space

Get started by doing one of the following:

  • Open the Color Management tab of the New Sequence or Sequence Settings dialog boxes, and then select the Advance dropdown arrow   icon.
  • For open sequences, open the Settings tab of the Lumetri Color panel and select the Sequence dropdown arrow   icon.

Select the Output Color Space you want to use from the Output Color Space menu. The available options include:

  • Rec.709
  • Rec.2020
  • Rec.2100 (PQ)
  • Rec.2100 (HLG)

Select OK in the New Sequence or Sequence Settings tab or switch back to the Edit tab of the Lumetri Color panel.
