Import, export, or delete overlay settings

Last updated on Apr 1, 2026

Learn to use preset files to save, share, and manage custom overlay configurations across projects in Adobe Premiere.

Overlay presets store your customized monitor overlay settings, including metadata field selections, positioning, text size, and opacity preferences. Export presets to share configurations with team members or back up your settings. Import presets to apply saved configurations to new projects. Delete presets you no longer need to keep your workspace organized. Overlay preset files use the .olp extension and can be stored anywhere on your system.

Before managing overlay presets, ensure you have configured your overlay settings by selecting the wrench icon in the Program Monitor or Source Monitor, then selecting Overlays > Settings.

Import an overlay preset

In the Overlay Settings dialog, select the Import Preset icon.

Navigate to the location of the .olp preset file you want to import.

Select the preset file.

Select Open.

The imported preset appears in the Preset dropdown list and is immediately available for use.

Export an overlay preset

In the Overlay Settings dialog box, select the preset you want to export from the Preset dropdown list.

Select the Export Preset icon.

Enter a name for the preset file.

Navigate to the location where you want to save the preset.

Select Save.

The preset is saved as an .olp file that you can share or archive.

Delete an overlay preset

In the Overlay Settings dialog box, select the preset you want to remove from the Preset dropdown list.

Select the Delete Preset icon.

Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Note

Deleting a preset removes it permanently from Premiere. If you need the preset later, you must import it again from a saved .olp file.
