Clip-specific operations let you apply adjustments to a single clip in your sequence, making them ideal for fine-tuning individual shots. Whether you’re matching clips within a scene, applying tracked corrections, or adding clip-level effects, these operations give you precise control where it’s needed most. Because they’re tied directly to each clip, and accessible from both Edit and Color modes, they fit seamlessly into your workflow for quick fixes and detailed refinements.

Why add clip specific operations?

Operations you apply at the Clip level only affect that specific instance of a clip within that sequence. These are most useful for clip-specific operations you make to do things such as:

  • Matching a clip to the other clips in that scene.
  • Making isolated adjustments using masks that are specific to that clip, which need to be tracked or keyframed to its motion.
  • Clip-specific special effects, including keyframed effects.
Note

Only Clip operations can be keyframed, only Clip operations can be masked and tracked.

Editing the first Adjust Operation in Edit mode

A subset of the global controls for the first Clip Adjust operation at the Clip level of the grade can be adjusted in the Color section of the Properties panel in Edit mode. These controls are presented as a set of clip-specific operations, available as a slider-based interface for editors to use to solve common problems as they work. Because these controls are identical to those in Color mode, the same operations appear on the Adjust 1 operation when you work in Color mode, so it’s all part of the same grade.

If you delete the Adjust 1 operation, the Properties panel will connect to the next available Clip Adjust operation. If there are no Clip Adjust operations, a new one will be created.
