Display overlays in Multi-Camera View

Last updated on Apr 1, 2026

Learn to configure metadata displays in the Overlay Settings dialog box to show camera names and timecodes across multiple angles in Adobe Premiere.

Overlays in Multi-Camera View help you identify camera angles and track timecodes while editing footage from multiple sources, making it easier to select the right angle during playback.

Multi-Camera View mode lets you display up to two metadata properties as overlays on your camera angles in the Source Monitor. These overlays display information such as camera names, source timecodes, and other metadata to help you identify footage when switching between angles. Camera angle labels are determined by the Camera Names option you selected when creating your multi-camera source sequence.

Configure overlay settings for Multi-Camera View

In the Source Monitor, select the Wrench icon and select Overlay Settings > Settings.

In the Overlay Settings dialog box, select up to two metadata properties from the available options, such as Camera Name and Source Timecode.

Choose a metadata option such as Camera Name or Source Timecode to display overlays in Multi-Camera View.

Adjust the Text Size and Opacity settings to control how the overlays appear on your monitor.

Select Enable overlays during playback if you want the metadata to remain visible while the footage plays.

Select OK to apply your settings.

Your selected metadata now appears as overlays on each camera angle in Multi-Camera View. The overlay positions match the layout you configured in the Overlay Settings dialog box, making it easier to identify each camera source during multi-camera editing.

Tip

Save your overlay configuration as a preset using the Save Preset   icon in the Overlay Settings dialog box. This lets you quickly switch between different overlay layouts for various multi-camera projects.
