View audio and video waveforms in the Source Monitor

Last updated on Mar 13, 2026

Learn how to display audio waveforms alongside video playback in the Source Monitor in Adobe Premiere (beta).

In Premiere (beta), you can view audio waveforms and video playback together in the Source Monitor. Whether you’re cutting interviews, syncing dialogue, or finessing sound design, you can now see audio and video tracks together, allowing you to edit with greater precision and efficiency. This makes it easier to identify audio cues while watching the picture, set accurate In and Out points, and review clips without switching between display modes.

Double-click a video clip with audio in the Project or Timeline panel to load it into the Source Monitor.

In the Source Monitor, select the Settings   icon and enable the Video and Audio Waveform Split in the monitor settings, or select the Drag Audio and Video   icon to enable preview mode.

Audio waveforms appear below video playback when the preview mode is enabled in the Source Monitor.

Play the clip or scrub the playhead to view the video while the audio waveform updates in real time below it and set In and Out points or add markers while viewing both audio and video together.
