Last updated on Nov 19, 2025

Learn how to open videos generated in Adobe Firefly on the web directly in Premiere on desktop for easy editing.

Adobe Firefly enables you to generate AI-generated visual assets, including videos, images, and audio files. Once you've generated videos using text prompts and images in Firefly, you can send them directly to Premiere on desktop. This streamlines your workflow by eliminating the need for manual downloads and imports.

Generate a video using Firefly or partner video models.

Hover your cursor over the generated video and select Edit > Open in Premiere desktop.

The Edit menu in Firefly with the Open in Premiere desktop option highlighted.
Send your Firefly-generated video directly to Adobe Premiere from the Edit menu for advanced editing.

A new page opens, initiating the handoff. You can view the download progress in the Progress sheet.

Tip

Videos generated in Firefly and edited in Premiere using the Open in Premiere desktop option are automatically saved to your device. You can also choose the location where these Firefly media files are stored.

  • On macOS: Go to Premiere > Settings, then locate Cloud Media Downloads.
  • On Windows: Go to Edit > Preferences, then locate Cloud Media Downloads.

The media automatically appears in Firefly Downloads bin of the Project panel of your currently open Premiere project.

Note

The video transferred to Premiere retains its original resolution and quality from Firefly.

Once the asset appears in your Project panel, you can drag it to the Timeline, apply effects, or organize it into bins like any other imported media.
