Firefly FAQ for Adobe Stock

Last updated on Jun 11, 2026

Get answers to common questions about Firefly training, Firefly Contributor bonus program, and generative AI content submissions.

These questions typically arise when Contributors receive the Firefly Contributor bonus, plan their submission strategy, or evaluate how generative AI impacts their portfolios.

Adobe Firefly is a family of creative generative AI models available at firefly.adobe.com and through features in Adobe's flagship apps. The first commercially released Firefly model was trained on Adobe Stock images, openly licensed content, and public-domain content whose copyright has expired. Firefly is designed to generate images safe for commercial use.

All Adobe Stock Contributors with eligible photos, vectors, illustrations, videos, or generative AI content, whose content was considered for training Adobe Firefly generative AI models, are receiving a Firefly Contributor bonus payment on September 17, 2025. Bonus amount will vary for each eligible Contributor and is paid at Adobe’s discretion. Further details:

  • The 2025 bonus is based on photos, vectors, illustrations, videos, and generative AI content considered for training between June 3, 2024, and June 2, 2025, and the number of licenses that the content generated in the same 12-month period.
  • Anyone who receives a Firefly contributor bonus payment can request a payout. The minimum $25 requirement for payouts has been lowered to $1 for 3 months, but only for Contributors who received a bonus payment. It's recommended that after requesting a payout below or above $25, subsequent payout requests will require a minimum balance of $25.
  • Important: Any violation of the Contributor Additional Terms of Use, especially those where IP rights have been violated, or where license downloads have been inflated, may result in account closure as well as the cancellation of any potential Firefly contributor bonus.
  • Be advised that the bonus is subject to US withholding taxes (if applicable), which are automatically withheld and remitted directly to the IRS on your behalf.

We cannot share details about future bonus payments at this time.

Yes. While the terms we already have with Adobe Stock contributors permit Adobe to create and train Firefly models, we have created a Firefly contributor bonus for all eligible Adobe Stock contributors whose content was used in the dataset training of the commercially released Firefly model.

The payment is specific to each Adobe Stock Contributor because it is based on photos, videos, vectors, illustrations, and generative AI content considered for Firefly training between June 3, 2024, and June 2, 2025, and the number of licenses that all those assets generated in the same 12-month period. Please note, the bonus is subject to US withholding taxes (if applicable) which are automatically withheld and remitted directly to the IRS on your behalf.

The Firefly Contributor bonus payment was added to your overall balance in the contributor portal on September 17, 2025. A banner on the Insights > My Statistics tab provides the specific amount that was added. You can also view the Firefly bonus payment by following these steps:

Select the Insights tab at the top of the Contributor Portal.

In the My Statistics tab, choose the Select Data Type dropdown menu, and then select Other Payments (Top Sellers are shown by default).

Under Select period, select a date range that includes the payment date.

Select Display statistics.

The minimum cash out level for Adobe Stock Contributors who received a Firefly bonus is lowered to $1 from September 17, 2025, to December 17, 2025. Important: Once you have requested a payment, regardless of the amount, the minimum payout level returns to $25 for subsequent payout requests. Payments are processed in the order received. Depending on the volume of requests, payments may take longer than the standard 8-10 business days.

Bonuses are subject to US withholding taxes (if applicable) which are automatically withheld and remitted directly to the IRS on your behalf.

All offerings from Adobe Stock are required to ensure appropriate processes are in place to collect US withholding taxes from US and non-US Contributors.

If you have previously received payments for the Firefly Contributor bonus payment where taxes were not withheld, no action is required, and Adobe Stock will apply withholding on a go-forward basis.

Firefly generated assets from the commercially released version can be submitted to Adobe Stock if they meet our generative AI submission guidelines and don’t contain a watermark.

We currently do not offer an opt-out option for Adobe Stock content. Learn more about the account and submission guidelines and Contributor Agreement.
