Model release overview
Understand what a model release is, and why it's important for contributing to Adobe Stock.
Each Contributor has a story to tell, and when people are part of that story, their permission is essential. Whether photographing friends, filming in public spaces, or creating artwork based on real individuals, a model release is required to license content through Adobe Stock. Model releases help ensure content can be licensed appropriately while respecting the rights of the people featured, protecting both the creative work and the individuals represented.
Model release
A model release is a legal agreement between Contributors and the person depicted in the content. It gives the Contributors and Adobe Stock customers permission to publish, distribute, and license that content for commercial use. Contributors have to submit a model release, whether they are working with professional models or capturing candid moments in public.
If the person featured can be recognized in any way, by their face, voice, tattoos, clothing, or even specific surroundings, Contributors are required to obtain their consent before submitting their content to Adobe Stock.
If someone could reasonably identify themselves (or be identified by another), submit a signed model release.
