Know what sells

Understanding customer needs helps you build a portfolio that performs well across industries such as marketing, publishing, film, education, web, and social media.

When submitting content, ensure that you focus on the following:

  • Commercial appeal: Content should be relevant, useful, and adaptable. Think of content that works well in ads or designs that fit into real-world use cases.
  • Current trends: Explore and follow seasonal, cultural, and market-driven topics.
  • Authenticity: Reflect real, diverse, and accurate experiences. Whether you're photographing people, generating AI content, or illustrating environments, make sure your work feels honest and intentional.

Build a thoughtful portfolio

Your portfolio is your voice. To amplify it, aim for depth, range, and focus.

  • Curate for variety and quality: Choose the best and most distinct content while avoiding uploading near-identical submissions.
  • Specialize with purpose: Build a niche and own it to have the most success in that field, whether it's food photography or authentic real-life situations.
  • Stay consistent: Regular submissions help your work stay visible and relevant to search algorithms.

Master metadata

Strong metadata is how your content gets discovered, so make sure you dedicate adequate time to it during your submission process. Build your skills with proven metadata best practices.

  • Titles: Write clear, accurate, and descriptive titles. Avoid using all caps, brand names, or artist names.
  • Keywords: List up to 50 keywords, ordered by relevance. Include concepts, settings, demographics, locations, and technical terms where applicable.
  • Language check: Use the correct language setting in the Contributor portal to avoid translation issues.
  • Categories: Assign a category that best describes the content type and context. This helps buyers and boosts discoverability.

Follow submission guidelines

The Adobe Stock collection comprises several content types; however, each has its own standards. Before you submit, make sure your content follows all technical and aesthetic requirements:

Ensure submissions are accurate

Customers expect an accurate representation of the subject matter. So, your titles, keywords, releases, and visuals must be accurate.

  • Model and property releases: If your content features recognizable people or private property, secure the appropriate release. Learn more about model releases and property releases.
  • Respect IP: Never include logos, brand names, or protected designs unless you own the rights.
  • Use generative AI responsibly: Avoid visual anomalies and ensure realistic, anatomically correct results. Accuracy matters.

Learn and evolve

The more you contribute, the more you grow. Successful Contributors pay attention to performance, refine their style, and stay curious about what's next.
