Fonts guidelines for design template submission

Last updated on Jun 11, 2026

Learn about font requirements and licensing guidelines for Adobe Stock design templates, including approved font sources, text editability rules, restricted fonts, and best practices for using Adobe Fonts to avoid submission rejection.

All Adobe Stock templates must use Adobe Fonts (formerly known as TypeKit). Creative Cloud subscribers can access thousands of fonts included with their subscription. Adobe Fonts sync automatically in the Creative Cloud apps, so Contributors don’t need to download or install font files. This ensures fonts are properly licensed and correctly displayed in the submitted templates.

Font requirements

Refer to the following font requirements for Adobe Stock design templates to ensure compliance with font sourcing and text editability standards.

Requirements

Specifications

Reasons

Font source

Adobe Fonts only

Ensures customers can sync fonts automatically without manual installation.

Hidden or unused layers

Must use Adobe Fonts

Prevents font errors when customers edit hidden elements.

Text editability

All text must remain editable

Allows customers to customize content (outlined or flattened text will be rejected).

Marketplace fonts

Not permitted

Adobe Font Marketplace fonts require an additional purchase beyond Creative Cloud subscriptions.

Restricted font sources

Templates using fonts from these sources will be rejected:

  • Third-party font foundries or vendors
  • Free font websites
  • System fonts not available in Adobe Fonts
  • Adobe Font Marketplace (fonts requiring additional purchase)
  • Custom or proprietary fonts

Text as a design element

Text may be outlined or rasterized only when used as a decorative graphic element rather than editable content. Layer names should clearly indicate non-editable text (for example, "Decorative text effect - not editable").

Technical specifications

Adobe Fonts integration eliminates manual font management:

  • Fonts sync automatically when templates are opened.
  • No separate font files are required in template packages.
  • High-quality, properly licensed fonts are guaranteed.
  • Fonts are compatible across Windows and macOS.

Refer to Using Adobe Fonts in Templates for detailed font setup guidance.

Note

Font-related rejections account for a significant portion of template submission failures. Verify that all text layers use Adobe Fonts before packaging your template file.
