Illustrative editorial content submission overview

Last updated on Jun 11, 2026

Learn what illustrative editorial content is and how it differs from standard Adobe Stock submissions.

Illustrative editorial content allows creators to document and reflect on real-world news, events, and cultural commentary through expressive, original artwork.

Adobe Stock defines illustrative editorial content as conceptual imagery designed to illustrate articles on current events and newsworthy topics. This content type often features images of real brands and products, such as building signs, soda cans, computers, and cars, to convey a story. Illustrative editorial content is available to Adobe Stock customers for editorial use only and differs from traditional editorial photography that documents events as they occur.

Note

Illustrative editorial content isn't the same as editorial content, which documents events or incidents that are currently occurring or developing, or that have already occurred. Adobe doesn't accept traditional editorial content at this time.

Before submitting illustrative editorial content, you must meet specific eligibility requirements and understand which content types Adobe Stock accepts in this category:

  • An active Adobe Stock Contributor account
  • 100 or more downloads in your account history
  • Content that meets Adobe Stock's basic requirements for photos, illustrations, or vectors

Eligibility requirements for illustrative editorial content

Adobe Stock accepts a variety of illustrative editorial content that may feature recognizable brands and events presented in a non-commercial or commentary-based context, such as:

  • Vector illustrations of city skylines, including trademarked buildings.
  • Editorial cartoons commenting on product launches or industry developments.
  • Conceptual imagery featuring brand logos in news or cultural commentary contexts.
  • Photographs of branded products or signage in real-world settings that illustrate current events.

This flexibility allows you to contribute meaningful cultural documentation while working within established legal frameworks for editorial use.

Content restrictions and requirements

Certain elements automatically disqualify content from the illustrative editorial category, regardless of the context or quality, such as:

  • Content that features recognizable people.
  • Content of restricted events, such as political conventions, fashion shows, premieres, and sporting events.
  • Content that features tight crops of copyrighted or trademarked material, such as stamps, fine art, or other content that may violate privacy rights.
  • Digitally created or manipulated versions of trademarked logos or other brand content, other than a social media icon.
