Learn how to merge multiple files into one PDF document using Adobe Acrobat.
Adobe Acrobat allows you to combine PDFs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, audio, video, or web files. You can preview, arrange, move, or delete pages before creating a single, sequential PDF. Combine open files or choose files or folders from your device.
Select Add Files and select the files you want to combine. To add a folder, select Add Folders and select the folder that contains the files you want to combine. You can also drag and drop files into the Combine files window.
Note
When you select Combine files with files already open in Acrobat, those files are automatically included in the merge. You can choose Add open files to proceed.
Arrange the files and pages as desired:
- Drag and drop thumbnails to reorder pages.
- Hover over a file and select the expand icon to view individual pages.
- Select to remove unwanted pages.
(Optional) Select Options in the toolbar to customize how the files are combined.. The following options are available:
- File Size: Choose the size of the combined PDF: smaller file size, default, or larger file size (higher quality).
- Always enable accessibility and reflow: Make the combined PDF accessible and enable reflow.
- Always add bookmarks to Adobe PDF: Add bookmarks for the combined files. Deselect to combine without adding bookmarks.
- Continue combining if an error occurs: Skip files that can't be converted and continue combining the rest.
- Save as PDF Portfolio: Save the combined files as a PDF Portfolio instead of a single merged PDF.
- Convert all files to PDF when creating a portfolio: Convert all files in the portfolio to PDF. Available only when Save as PDF Portfolio is selected.
- Always delete source files after combining: Delete the original files after the combined PDF is created.
Note
The selections are saved and applied to future Combine files operations until changed.
Select Combine in the upper-right corner.
Acrobat merges your selected files into a single PDF document. You can rename the merged file and save it at the desired location.
