Learn how to create a quick cut from a voiceover in Adobe Firefly and automatically add relevant visuals.
Voice cut is an AI-assisted editing workflow that uses your voiceover as the foundation for creating a first-draft video. It analyzes the narration and automatically selects and arranges relevant visual footage to complement what’s being said.
Instead of manually reviewing footage and matching clips to different parts of a voiceover, you can use Voice cut to quickly create a first draft. Optionally, provide visual direction to guide the style, themes, or types of visuals, and choose the project or timeline media to use for the voice cut.
Once a voice cut is created, it opens as an editable timeline where you can review the selected clips, refine the edit, and add finishing touches.
Create a Voice cut
Before you begin, make sure to add the video footage you want to use as visuals to your project.
Select the Quick cut icon at the bottom-right of the page to open the Tools panel, and then select Voice cut.
Drag and drop a voiceover file from the Project media panel into the upload area or select Upload to add one.
Once added, you can preview the voiceover from the Voice cut panel.
In the Visual direction (optional) box, describe the themes, style, or types of visuals you want Voice cut to use.
Tip
Focus your visual direction on what you want to see rather than describing the voiceover. You can specify subjects, themes, styles, or types of shots that complement the narration.
Go to the Use visual media from dropdown menu, and select where visuals can be sourced from:
- Current project: Uses eligible visual media from the project.
- Current timeline: Uses visual media from the current timeline.
- Current timeline selection: Uses visual media from the selected portion of the current timeline.
From Aspect ratio menu, select Automatic to fit the footage or select an aspect ratio for the intended output.
Select Create voice cut.
Wait for the clip to finish processing. When you see the Your timeline is ready message, select Open timeline.
The voice cut opens as an editable timeline where you can review clips, refine edits, and add finishing touches.
Note
Select Start over if you want to create another voice cut using different input or settings.
