Metadata & Timecode Burn-in effect

Learn about Metadata & Timecode Burn-in effect in Premiere Pro, a helpful tool that can display and burn-in useful clip or sequence metadata.

Working with Metadata & Timecode Burn-in effect

Follow these steps to display clip metadata in a text overlay. Each effect instance can display up to five lines of metadata.

  1. Select a single clip, adjustment layer, or transparent clip in the Timeline panel.

  2. Under Video Effects in the Effect panel, select Video and drag the Metadata & Timecode Burn-in effect to the clip in the timeline.

  3. In the Effects Control panel, select any clip metadata to be displayed in the text overlay. You can choose to display the Metadata Label and Source Track Label.

  4. Adjust the size, position, and opacity of the effect.

Use the Metadata dropdown menu to select the type of metadata to be displayed as text overlay.

Note:

If the effect is applied to a transparent video layer, you can select a specific video or audio track in the timeline to display its metadata. Or you can choose Top Clip which will display the metadata of the clip from the top track at any given point in time.
