Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat Pro with online services is the complete PDF solution for working with your most important documents across desktop, web, and mobile devices. Update your Acrobat desktop and mobile apps, or sign in to Acrobat online to experience the new features and improvements.

Note:

To experience the new features immediately, update your Acrobat—on the Help menu, select Check for updates and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update process.

Streamlining document sharing and access control

Note:

The feature is being rolled out as a limited release to a select set of users in the new Acrobat experience with Adobe cloud storage.

Unified share workflow

Acrobat's new unified Share button combines sharing a link, sending the file by email, and sharing a file with others into one streamlined action, simplifying the sharing experience.

Share files using third-party apps

Acrobat allows you to share your file using third-party apps like Microsoft® Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft® Teams, and WhatsApp. You can share a file using any of the ways below:

  • Use the invite workflow to enter the recipients' email addresses that you want to share.
  • Choose Microsoft® Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft® Teams, or WhatsApp for sharing the link with the recipients.
  • Send a link or attach the file in an email.
Share the link with others

Create secure, shareable PDF links with access permissions

When you share a link to your PDF file with others, you can use built-in presets like public, private, and organization to define access permissions. If a recipient doesn't have access, they can request it from you.

  • Private links Only invited collaborators can access the shared PDF file link.
  • Organization links Anyone within the organization can access the shared PDF file through the link.
  • Public links Anyone with access to the link can view the shared PDF file. This option is helpful for sharing with a large audience and doesn’t require the recipients to sign in.
  • Request access If a recipient wants to access a privately shared document, they can request access. Upon receiving new requests, the document owner gets notified and can decide to either grant or deny access, maintaining complete control over the document's accessibility.
Note:

Enterprise admins can manage user access using the Adobe Admin Console. These settings will remain unaffected regardless of any access controls you've set up in Acrobat.

Choose the access type for the link

Request access to the shared file

When opening a secured shared link in Acrobat, you're prompted to log in with your Adobe ID. If unauthorized, an error appears, allowing you to request access or sign in with another email. For more information, see Request access to the shared file.

Manage access to the shared file

As the PDF file owner, you'll receive an email and an Acrobat notification when someone requests access to the shared file. Select Manage Access in the email received or the app notification and then select Accept or Decline the requested access. For more information, see Managing file access.
