The new generation and editing experience is a beta feature in Adobe Firefly, currently available for testing and feedback.
Creative workflows can involve generating content, refining individual elements, organizing related assets, and assembling content into a final output. These tasks may involve moving between different tools or workspaces.
The new generation and editing experience in Adobe Firefly provides a single workspace for generating and editing content, managing projects and assets, and working with video timelines.
Within the workspace, you can generate images and videos, save content to a project, use generated content as a reference for further generations, and edit video content. The new experience also allows you to access Project media and Generation history throughout as you move between generation and editing tasks.
The new generation and editing experience is available in English on desktop for users who are signed in to their Adobe account.
Explore the workspace
You can access the new experience by selecting Try it button on the Experience the new generation and editing experience tile from the home page. The generation and editing experience keeps your creative workflow within a project.
You can start by generating images or videos, editing existing images, or creating a video timeline. Use the Generate and Timeline options at the top of the workspace to easily move between content generation and video assembly.
The new workspace opens with the last project you were working on and has three main areas:
- Project media: Find, add, and access media associated with your projects in the left panel at all times.
- Central generation and editing workspace: Create or edit images and videos. Choose a starting action, enter a prompt, add references or elements, select a model, and adjust available generation settings.
- Generation history menu: Revisit previous results. You can view generations associated with the current project, or switch to All to browse generations beyond it.

Benefits of the new generation and editing workspace
Firefly's unified workspace combines several capabilities that allow you to create and carry an idea from initial exploration through final production:
- Connected generation and editing: Create images and videos using AI-powered generation, then refine them with editing tools without leaving your workspace or losing your work-in-progress. This integrated approach means you can experiment freely during generation and refine details afterward.
- Project-based organization: Keep related generations, media, timelines, and other creative assets together in a project. Use the Project media panel to access media associated with the current project as you generate, edit, and assemble content.
- Reusable creative elements: Build a library of Elements, reusable creative assets that represent specific visual concepts—a character design, a product you're featuring, or a location. Rather than describing the same character in every prompt, create an Element once and apply it to new generations, ensuring that visual identity remains consistent even as you explore different scenes or compositions.
- Integrated video editor: Use Timeline to sequence video clips, arrange content, and refine timing directly within Firefly. Easily arrange generated video clips, adjust timing, combine multiple sequences, and refine the flow of your video project without exporting to external editing software.
For projects that involve combining images and video, or generating multiple video segments, Timeline helps you assemble finished content while maintaining access to your source generations and project assets.
- Persistent creative context: Return to your previous work without losing the creative context. Use the Generation history dropdown menu to view generations from the current project or browse available generations, and continue working with previous results.
