Use custom models in Adobe Firefly to generate and edit image variations that match your style or brand identity.
Custom Models is currently in beta for individual and teams users in Adobe Firefly. Try it now and share your feedback.
Firefly Custom Models can help you generate high-quality images that align with your brand identity and support campaign consistency.
Once you train a custom model, you can use it to generate images in Firefly web, Photoshop (with an update available for its beta desktop app), Express, Illustrator, GenStudio, or Firefly Services.
Use custom models to generate images on Firefly
From the Model dropdown menu, select a custom model you previously created or one that was shared with you.
You can also add a reference image using the Reference image option to guide the composition and layout of your generation.
If desired, you can change the Generation settings in the left-hand panel.
Enter a prompt describing what you want to generate. If you've selected a model trained on a subject (i.e. a character or person), make sure to include its Concept ID in the prompt.
Select Generate.
You can keep iterating as desired, download the image, or open it in other Adobe Creative Cloud apps to add finishing touches.
Note
Enterprise users can download the raster images generated by custom models as JPEG or SVG files.
- Custom models are native image models, not vector models. This option converts raster images to SVG files, similar to Illustrator’s Trace Image function. As a result, these SVGs may include more anchor points and more complex paths than traditional vectors. This is most common in medium- to high-complexity images, but can also appear as hallucinations in simple images. This feature does not yet create editable strokes.
- Conversion speed may vary and is typically slower for complex images.
- This option is available only on Firefly and applies only to illustrations and icons, not to photographic generations.
- This option is only available for images created with enterprise custom models.
Edit an image using Firefly custom model
You can also edit an image (adding, removing, or changing elements) using CM5 models while keeping your organization and campaign style and subject intact.
On the Firefly home, select Image in the left panel, then select Generate image.
Select Edit at the top of the page.
Choose how you want to start: upload an asset directly from your device, use Adobe cloud storage, or create a new canvas. To edit a new image, you can also select Upload and choose it from your computer.
Once your image loads, select the right custom model (only Custom Model 5 models are displayed) from the model dropdown.
In the left panel, choose an edit tool. Prompt is selected by default, however, you can also choose Markup, Tune (beta), Fill, Remove, Expand, Upscale, or Remove background.
Enter a prompt describing the change you want to make, for example, type in: Add another tree. Then select Generate.
You can repeat this process as desired. Each edit adds a new version to the filmstrip below the canvas, so you can compare results or return to an earlier version.
Once you're satisfied with the result, select Download or Share, or continue editing.
