Edit images using text prompts

Learn how to add, remove, or transform objects and backgrounds in images using Firefly image editor.

On the Firefly homepage, select Create in the left panel and then Edit with prompts.

To start editing, upload your image or drag and drop it into the editor.

Tip

You can also use the New option to add an image from the Adobe cloud storage.

In the prompt bar, use the model dropdown menu to select from Adobe or one of the following partner models:

  • Firefly Image 5 (preview)
  • Gemini 2.5 (Nano Banana)
  • GPT Image
  • Flux Kontext Max
  • Flux Kontext Pro
The expanded Models dropdown lists partner image models as well as Firefly to select from.
Select a model from the list of Firefly or partner models to start editing the image using text prompts.

Add a text prompt that describes what you want to edit in the image.

Original image

Prompt used: Minimalist matte modern green vases of various shapes lined up on a white background.

First edit

Prompt used: Change the color of the third vase to mustard yellow.

Second edit

Prompt used: Add a wallpaper that is vibrant and floral to bring energy to the space.

Third edit

Prompt used: Add hydrangea to the fourth vase.

Once you are happy with the edits and generation, use the Download option to save it to your device.

Use the History panel at the bottom of the page to browse through the generations and select one to open it in the editor.
