Create a shape in Premiere Pro

Use the PenRectangle, Ellipse, and Polygon tools to create freeform shapes and paths in Premiere Pro. 

Note:

Starting with Premiere Pro version 25.0, the Essential Graphics panel is no longer included. You can now edit titles, captions, audio, video, and graphics more efficiently using the new Properties panel and browse Motion Graphics and Stock Audio using the Graphics Templates panel.

Create shape layer

Click and hold the Rectangle tool to expose the Ellipse and Polygon shape tools. Select one of the shape tools and drag on your image to draw a shape.

Use the Selection Tool (V) to move your shape or change its width, height, rotation, or anchor point.

Use the options in the Essential Graphics panel to change stroke and fill.

You can also

  • Use the Pen tool and click two points to create a line.
  • Combine shapes with text to create your own graphics.
  • Select all of your lines, shapes, and text and press click the Group icon in the Essential Graphics icon to group them.
