Manage Adobe profiles

Last updated on Nov 4, 2026

Learn what Business and Personal profiles are, which one to choose, and how to switch, configure, or move content between them.

Choose your Personal profile only for the cases listed in Choose the right profile.

If you use the same email address for multiple Adobe plans, at least one of which is a business plan, Adobe creates a separate profile for each plan. Each profile has its own dedicated storage.

How Adobe ID, account, and profile relate

Your identity, account, and profile each control a different part of what you can access.

What are Business and Personal profiles?

A Business profile comes with a plan that an organization provides, such as a business, government entity, or educational institution. Examples include Creative Cloud for teams or enterprise, Acrobat for teams or enterprise, Adobe Stock for teams, and Experience Cloud.

Your plan administrator may access or control content in a Business profile. Content in a Business profile isn’t accessible to your team unless you share it.

A Personal profile comes with a plan you purchase for individual use, or with a Creative Cloud free membership. You have sole control over content in your Personal profile.

A Personal profile isn’t available if you sign in with a school or business account (Enterprise ID or Federated ID).

Select a profile at sign-in

Choose the right profile

Choose your Business profile when you:

  • Access a business plan provided by your organization
  • Sign in to the Admin Console as an admin
  • Have chosen to move personal assets into a business profile

Choose your Personal profile when you:

  • Access a plan you purchased for individual use
  • Have multiple business plans from different organizations, and need to access assets not yet sorted into a business profile
  • Need Creative Cloud free membership benefits, such as fonts, not available with Document Cloud plans
  • Redeem existing Adobe Stock credits
  • Access products such as FrameMaker or Captivate that aren’t managed through the Admin Console

A Business profile shows your organization’s name in the profile chooser. To see which plans you have under your email address, open your Adobe account. You get a Business profile when your organization assigns you a plan, so ask your administrator if you don’t have one.

When Adobe creates multiple profiles

Adobe creates a separate profile for you when any of the following applies:

  • You have a business plan in addition to an individual plan.
  • Multiple organizations provide you with business plans.
  • You have admin privileges across more than one organization in the Admin Console.
  • Your organization uses Directory Trust, which creates a profile for both the main and trustee organizations.

Switch between profiles

Adobe shows the profile chooser after you authenticate if more than one profile applies to you. Adobe filters the list to the most appropriate profiles. If only one profile applies to the app or service you’re signing in to, Adobe selects it automatically. For the full rules, see Sign in to your Adobe apps.

Sign out, then sign back in. After you enter your credentials, select the profile you want from the profile chooser.

You might not see the chooser if:

  • Only one profile applies to the app or service you’re signing in to. Adobe selects it automatically.
  • You have only one plan under that email address, so Adobe created only one profile.
  • You signed in with a school or business account (Enterprise ID or Federated ID). A Personal profile isn’t available with these accounts.

If you expect to see the chooser, sign out and sign in again. If it still doesn’t appear, review your automatic profile selection setting. If a profile you expect is missing from the list, open your Adobe account to check which plans you have, or contact your administrator.

Turn on or off automatic profile selection

You can control how Adobe selects a profile for you at sign-in.

Sign in to your Adobe Account.

Go to Account and security > Sign-in and security.

Under Automatic profile selection, turn the setting on or off.

Automatic profile selection settings in Adobe account showing options to default to Business profile and display profile selection notifications.

Move assets between profiles

To move content from one profile to another, see Manually transfer Adobe assets.

Content stored outside Adobe cloud storage, such as on a hard disk or a third-party cloud service, isn't affected by profiles.

Skip the profile chooser

If you'd rather not switch between profiles, use a distinct email address for each organization you have a paid entitlement with.

Adobe creates a profile for each plan that assigns you products, so a profile isn’t something you delete the way you delete an account. To stop seeing a Business profile, contact your administrator.

Note

Deleting your Adobe account is a different task. It permanently removes your personal information and content. For requirements and steps, see Delete your Adobe account.
