Move directories between Admin Consoles

Migrate directories between Admin Consoles, including users, domains, and identity settings, with Adobe support.

Moving a directory to a different Admin Console transfers all associated users, domains, and identity configurations to the new organization.

This migration requires Adobe's assistance and can only occur between Admin Consoles under the same ownership.

Directory migration benefits

Directory migration is beneficial when:

  • Changing directory ownership between System Admins in different organizations
  • Consolidating identity management under a single structure
  • Isolating identity management for decentralization
  • Decommissioning a directory when an organization is retired
  • Grouping directories by teams or departments
  • Ensuring System Admin roles exist in both source and destination Admin Consoles
  • Operating on Adobe’s user storage model in both Admin Consoles

If your directory uses automated sync (Azure Sync, Google Sync, User Sync Tool, or User Management API), you must pause sync during migration. If you have users associated with multiple domains, first move the domains into a single directory, then move the directory.

Note

When switching to a new contract, add it to an existing Admin Console instead of migrating directories.

Before you begin

Export a user list from both Admin Consoles to create a snapshot of current user data, product assignments, and admin roles for rollback purposes.

Request a directory migration

Sign in to the Admin Console and navigate to the Support section.

Select Manage users and licenses > Create Case.

Enter Directory Move in the Summarize the issue field.

Describe your request with relevant details, including the organization names and Admin Console URLs for both the source and destination consoles.

Attach any checklist from your Adobe representative or mention their name.

Select Submit.

An Adobe representative will contact you to schedule the migration. Work with them to choose a time that minimizes user disruption.
