Deploy packages using Jamf Pro
Use Jamf Pro policies and distribution points to install Adobe packages on clients’ macOS machines.
Jamf Pro (formerly The Casper Suite) is an Enterprise Mobility Management for macOS and other devices. Jamf Pro streamlines software deployment and maintenance tasks for IT admins. For detailed information about Jamf Pro capabilities, refer to the Jamf Pro product page.
Before you begin
After you create a package on the Adobe Admin Console, it's downloaded to your computer. Upload your Adobe package file to the Jamf Pro distribution point. Learn more about distribution points in the Jamf Pro documentation.
Install packages on client machines
Perform the following steps to install the downloaded package on client machines:
Select Policies > New.
In the Options tab, go to General and enter the following details:
- Display name for the policy.
- Select trigger
- Execution Frequency
Go to the Packages tab and select Configure.
Select Add package to add the package that you need to install.
From the Action dropdown menu, select Install.
Specify the distribution point from which client machines will download the package.
Go to the Scope tab, select the target machines, and select Save.
The policy deploys the Adobe package to scoped computers according to the defined triggers. Learn about advanced configuration options in Installing Packages of the Jamf Pro guide.
Uninstall packages on client machines
To uninstall a deployed Adobe package from client machines, follow the same policy workflow as installation, adjusting a few settings to reverse the action.
Before you uninstall the package, confirm it's still available at the Jamf Pro distribution point. Also, to ensure the uninstall option is available in the Action dropdown menu, index the package in Jamf Admin and turn on the uninstall feature.
Log in to Jamf Pro and select Computers at the top of the page.
Select Policies > New.
In the Options tab, go to General and enter a display name for the policy, along with the trigger and execution frequency you want to use.
Go to the Packages tab and select Configure.
Select Add to uninstall the package you need.
From the Action dropdown menu, select Uninstall.
Use the Restart Options payload to configure whether client machines restart after the package is uninstalled.
Go to the Scope tab, select the target machines, and select Save.
The policy removes the Adobe package from scoped computers according to the defined triggers. Learn about advanced configuration options in Uninstalling Packages of the Jamf Pro guide.
