Adobe Update Server Setup Tool overview

In enterprise environments with many users requiring Adobe apps and updates, individual downloads from Adobe servers consume substantial network bandwidth. Adobe Update Server Setup Tool (AUSST) centralizes the download of Adobe apps and updates to a single internal server. After setup, end users download apps and updates from your internal server.

Supported apps and updates

• AUSST syncs current Adobe desktop apps and the latest previous major versions of each. For Acrobat, AUSST syncs only the current version. AUSST does not sync updates for apps that are no longer sold. Find links to the apps available to download.​
• Apps and updates synced through AUSST can be installed through the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app. Updates synced through AUSST can be installed through Remote Update Manager (RUM).
• AUSST also hosts apps that can be deployed without their base versions, which can be installed via the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app.
• AUSST currently does not host Substance apps.
• The Creative Cloud desktop app cannot be updated using AUSST. Users need to update it regularly, or administrators need to deploy an updated package.

• Disk space: 1.2 TB or more for full synchronization, depending on the apps synced.
• Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 or later, or macOS High Sierra (10.13) or later
• RAM: 8 GB or more

Deployment scenarios

In an enterprise environment, you provide apps and updates to end users via packages created in the Admin Console in different setups. In all available setups, AUSST ensures that apps and updates are downloaded once from Adobe's servers and served to end users across your organization.

Install the Creative Cloud desktop app and allow end users to install apps and updates

If you create self-service or managed packages with elevated privileges, users have access to the Creative Cloud desktop app and can download and install apps and updates based on the package configuration.

When you set up an internal update server, apps and updates are downloaded each time you synchronize with the Adobe update server. End-user updates are then downloaded from the internal update server once the configuration files are in place.

If you create product configuration groups when setting up user computers, only specified products are available for installation and update from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Install apps and allow end users to install updates

If you create managed packages and enable the apps panel, users can update apps via Help > Updates from within the installed apps.

When you set up an internal update server, apps and updates are downloaded once from Adobe's servers. User updates are then downloaded from the internal update server.

If your internal update server is unavailable, end-user computers won't receive Adobe updates until it's back online. Administrators can allow client machines to bypass the internal server and retrieve updates directly from Adobe servers when required.
